Silk Crepe Wedding Gown and Jacket Hand-Embroidered with Meissen Inspired design.
A bespoke wedding gown in Silk Crepe for a beautiful Wedding Ceremony at Marylebone Catholic Church of Saint James in London.
Bride Leidy wanted her wedding dress to have a subtle grandeur upon her arrival. We introduced a soft petticoat under the skirt to elevate the layers of the silk crepe circular skirts to look as though they were floating above the ground.
We added a silk georgette watteau train to the back of the train for added impact as Leidy was not wearing a veil, and the silk crepe skirt had a small train to allow for dancing.
The colour palette of the embroidery was neutral in tones of cream, ivory and off white, colour defining the impressions of the petal shapes, the abstract stamen and pollen, and sweet little butterflies with glass beads and golden metallic threads.
The embroidery is focussed on the neckline and the hips and the edging and cuffs of the collar, in a silk shading style of embroidery highlighted with glass beads and metallic threads.
Leidy wanted to personalise the wedding dress with a bespoke embroidery design. Growing up in Bermuda, we first looked at native flowers from the Island. And eventually, remembering an antiques shop visited most summers on vacation where Leidy and her mother would pick out a piece of Meissen Purple Indian design dating from the 18th Century to add to a growing porcelain collection.

“Everything about working with Charlotte of Wilden London is magical. Her treasure trove of a studio behind a pink door is a haven and her talent of taking an idea (no matter how small) and translating it on to paper and then manifesting it in fabric and thread is truly remarkable.
Perhaps the aspect I most admire about Charlotte (and there are many!) are her embroidery skills. She is without a doubt an artist with needle and thread! Embroidery was always something I knew would be important to the design my dress. Through our initial consultation she was able to help hone in on one of the most meaningful design ideas for the embroidery. The way Charlotte was able to run with this idea and so beautifully execute it proved she is a true embroidery fairy!
I cannot recommend Charlotte more highly as someone to guide and craft the most beautiful dress of you dreams. Her talent is prodigious - her attention to detail and fit is exacting and her passion for what she does, inspiring.”
The neckline is subtly curved, with the appearance of being straight, with wide tapered straps set wide on the shoulders, and embroidered with matching embroidery winding over the shoulders.
